BSF - Benefits the Programme Brought to Us

There has been much negativity surrounding the BSF programme in recent days and that schools should not have been built under such a programme.

Our experience and involvement has seen real achievements in the programme. Delivering high quality buildings, improved technology and working environments. I think the future will show the programme as a success with future generations reaping the rewards.

As a carpentry and joinery subcontractor we raised our game to deliver what the main contractors and clients wanted in terms of KPI's to ensure a quality product and service. For example,

  • Local Suppliers - Sourced products and built relationships

  • Local Labour - Sourced locally, gave specific job training and development opportunities.

  • Apprentices - Supported local colleges to give opportunities.

  • Products - sourced cost effective and sustainable products without compromising quality.

  • Health & Safety - Started a H & S initiative to promote good practice to our employees.

These KPI's allowed us to evaluate our systems and processes giving closer focus on our site delivery. These practices are now implemented on every project we undertake and has added value to our service.

The programme has been stopped due to the deficit crisis. The BSF programme seems it will be replaced by a lick of paint policy but we hope that contractors and clients inherit at least one trait of the BSF in that they recruit good quality, proactive subcontractors.
